Your adventure in chic, conscious living starts right here!
Why do you believe sustainability in fashion is not just a trend but a responsibility, and how do you ensure your brand lives up to that belief in every collection?
Apache Star: Sustainability isn’t a trend for us—it’s a responsibility. At APACHE STAR, we challenge the status quo of the fashion industry, one of the most environmentally damaging sectors. We don’t greenwash or follow trends. Instead, we prioritize ethical partnerships, fair production, and high-quality products. Sustainability is our business model, not just a feature. Every piece we create is a statement of integrity and conviction. We’re not here for convenience or to follow the crowd—we’re here to make a difference.
What does it mean to you, as a couple, to build something together that reflects your values and love for the planet, and how do you stay united when challenges arise?
Apache Star: Our life is an adventure, and APACHE STAR is its heart. People often wonder how a couple like us—Roger, the outgoing badass, and me, the introverted visionary—can make it work. But our differences are our strength. We share unwavering values, and every challenge deepens our bond. Our unconventional lifestyle and age difference invite both admiration and confusion, but we don’t seek approval. APACHE STAR represents our shared heritage and the story of an iconic powerboat. We tackle challenges together, valuing open communication. I lead the business in the background, while Roger is the brand's storyteller in the public eye. This balance of roles is our recipe for success, grounded in love and respect.
How do your travels around the world not only inspire your designs but also deepen your understanding of the cultures and communities your brand touches?
Apache Star: For us, traveling is more than escape; it’s a path of learning and growth. Living in a tour bus may seem odd, but it symbolizes our freedom—the heartbeat of APACHE STAR. We dive deep into cultures and face real issues, witnessing pollution and exploitation firsthand. This fuels our commitment to sustainability, CO2 removal, and donating clothing to those in need. Every design we create is born from our journey. We’re not detached fashion experts; we’re passionate travelers, and our open hearts shape every product we develop.
What sacrifices or bold decisions have you made to stay true to your mission of sustainability, and what would you tell others who fear taking those leaps for their values?
Apache Star: Choosing sustainability isn’t easy. We could have taken the easy route—cheap materials and mass production for quick profits—but that’s not who we are. We’re committed to a sustainable model, even if it costs us more time and money. APACHE STAR isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. Every challenge we face strengthens our resolve. When we decided to use recycled ocean plastic, we didn't know if it would work, but we jumped in anyway, despite the doubts. I’ve always wanted my own independence, not just to live off my partner’s success. Founding APACHE STAR was my boldest move, and I embraced the risks of entrepreneurship. To anyone considering a leap: don’t fear resilience. If you know your purpose, you’ll find the courage to choose the harder, but right, path.
Why is it important to you to leave a legacy through your brand, and what do you hope future generations will learn from the example you’re setting today?
Apache Star: We’re not interested in a “nice” reputation; we want APACHE STAR to make a real statement. Our mission is to leave a legacy that goes beyond fashion, driving cultural change. APACHE STAR embodies a value system where luxury and sustainability coexist. We want to inspire future generations to stand against the mainstream. Resistance is a sign you’re on the right path. Our brand redefines the rules and empowers others to uphold their principles. The journey may be tough, but it’s the only path that truly matters.

Balancing Motherhood and Entrepreneurship: Transitioning from finance to the jewelry industry is quite a leap. How have you balanced the demanding roles of being mothers, entrepreneurs, and business owners, and what strategies do you use to maintain both personal and professional fulfillment?
Claire: Balancing motherhood and business comes with many challenges especially as there’s not enough time in the day to do everything but it is hugely rewarding too when you get it right. When we started the business I had a huge feeling of guilt when it came to missing the children’s school and sporting events but now that we are more established I am trying to keep to a more structured schedule that allows me to dedicate quality time to both and also to be realistic about setting targets and goals and to accept that plans can and may change and we can always adapt as we go otherwise it can get quite stressful!
Nathalie: After 25 years in financial services, I sold my share of a business to spend more time with my four children. Co-founding Astrea with Claire Ferrini has been my most exciting venture, combining beauty, innovation, and sustainability. We aim to show our children that as women entrepreneurs, we can create something meaningful. I believe lab-grown diamonds will soon dominate the market, making a positive change for the community.
Defining Success in a New Field: Success in finance can often be defined in measurable terms, such as profit margins and growth metrics. How has your perception of success evolved since moving into the jewelry industry, and what does success look like for you now in this new creative venture?
Claire: My idea of success, having moved into the Jewellry industry, would be to be recognised as the leading luxury lab grown company in the UK and ultimately globally. When we started the business a year ago, public knowledge of lab diamonds was minimal so we focused very much on the education. However today, lab diamonds are becoming more popular and for me, having a client come back to purchase the second piece of jewellery with Astrea is the prime example of success as it confirms what an incredible quality product we truly have.
Nathalie: In the jewelry business, success goes beyond financial gains; it encompasses artistry, craftsmanship, and emotional connections through sustainable and ethical practices. For us at Astrea, success blends financial achievement with creative fulfillment and a positive impact on the diamond industry. As the only brand selling exclusively colorless diamonds (D & E), we take pride in our forward-thinking approach. Our goal is to balance brand success with a passion for luxury, ensuring that Astrea brings joy and value to our customers and community.
The Motivation Behind the Transition: What inspired your move from the financial sector to lab-grown jewelry? Were there moments in your personal lives, particularly as mothers, that influenced this decision and shaped the values of your current business?
Claire: My grandmother gave me a lab diamond necklace almost 30 years ago and told me that she believed they were the future of the diamond industry because they allowed people to enjoy the true brilliance of diamonds without destroying the earth. When my fourth child started school full-time, I decided to explore this idea instead of going back into the financial sector. The journey that we have been on has been nothing but eye-opening and exciting and it’s wonderful to be a part of a revolution that’s rocking the diamond industry. To top it all off, my children’s enthusiasm for every win has been infectious and motivating.
Nathalie: Claire's vision for Astrea was inspired by a cherished lab diamond from her grandmother 29 years ago. We aspire to be the luxury, sustainable brand of choice for diamonds, driven by a team of passionate mothers who want to make a meaningful impact. We believe in showing our children that "impossible" is just a word and that perseverance leads to beautiful outcomes. Despite challenges, we’ve opened two stores in five-star hotels, generated over $1 million in revenue in just seven months, and received heartfelt endorsements from celebrities. This journey proves that with love and determination, mothers can truly balance family and career while creating something extraordinary.
Challenges and Lessons Learned: Both the financial and jewelry industries come with their own sets of challenges. What were the biggest obstacles you faced during this career shift, and how did your experiences in finance equip you to tackle the unique challenges of the jewelry world?
Claire: Establishing a brand identity in a competitive market requires creativity and strategic marketing. Having come from finance without prior experience in branding, this has been a big challenge. Learning about the jewellery industry, its own unique market dynamics, consumer preferences, and pricing strategies has also been a steep learning curve but an exciting one. We have also absolutely committed ourselves to only sourcing the very highest quality diamonds in the world. This, in itself comes with challenges ensuring that all of our diamonds are handpicked for their fire and sparkle and come fully certificated. Adaptability is key. Being open to learning and evolving in response to industry changes can lead to innovation and success.
Nathalie: When Claire and I embarked on this journey, we vowed to invest our hearts and souls until we found a reason not to. I now know this will be the pinnacle of my career and my greatest pride, offering opportunities I never dreamed of in wealth management. Giving back is incredibly meaningful to me, and my bond with Lilly Becker, forged through the Cash and Rocket charity, beautifully showcases the power of women supporting one another as we raise funds for children in Africa. Even with the long hours, family always comes first for Claire and me. We believe that showing our children the passion behind our work is the best education we can provide. We want them to learn the value of kindness, respect, and a can-do spirit. This venture allows me to give back on a larger scale, setting an example for my kids that we can make a difference while creating beauty and caring for our planet.
Impact on Family and Personal Growth: How has this transition impacted your family life and personal growth? Have your experiences in entrepreneurship taught you lessons that you pass on to your children or influenced the way you approach motherhood?
Claire: Starting a new business has had a huge impact on my family life and it has been tough for my children to become accustomed to sharing my time with Astrea. They have been incredibly patient and understanding but most importantly they have been so excited to see Astrea grow. My 11yr old now wants to start her own clothing company and for me, this inspiration is what it’s all about!
Nathalie: Even with countless hours invested, Claire and I always prioritize our kids and family. We believe that showing them our passion is the best education we can offer. It’s been a meaningful journey, and we hope they learn to strive for success while embodying kindness and respect. This venture allows me to give back on a larger scale, and I want my children to see that we can make a difference while caring for the planet. By demonstrating that our efforts can create beauty and benefit others, we aim to set a heartfelt example for them.
